Arezzo is a wonderful town, whose only bad luck is to be in Tuscany. If it were in any other region, it would surely be much more famous and sought after by tourists. This is also the only reason why the town is not yet in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. Its architectonic value, its artistic treasures (from Etruscan masterpieces such as The Chimera to the frescos collection named of the True Cross by Piero della Francesca), just like the traditional care for antiques would each be valid titles to be featured on the list.

The town is about 85 kilometres SW of Florence and 245 north of Rome. It is with the two towns linked both by highway and by high speed train. The countryside around Arezzo, the Casentino, has nothing to envy the more famous Italian countryside, like the Chianti.
